Four point inspection while buying billiards tables

Considering the fact that billiard tables are expensive, you need to be very careful while buying one for your requirements. There are so many options available today that choosing the right one may prove to be time consuming and confusing. To ensure you buy the best ones available for your requirement, there are five key inspection points to consider while making your choice.

The cloth used for the billiard tables is an important part of the table. The quality of the table cloth defines the player experience. The standard cloth that is used for these tables is green in color and is wool blended. It is a light weight material that feels ‘fuzzy’ when you run your palm along the surface. However, most people today prefer the worsted cloth because it is more durable and easy to clean as compared to the standard felt. The second point to inspect is the type of pockets. There are two main types of pockets in billiard tables which are drop pockets and leather pockets. You need not inspect drop pockets in details, but when choosing tables with leather pockets ensure the leather used is of good quality and does not have any scratches on it.

The third point to inspect while buying billiard tables is the material used for the playing surface. There are a few tables that have the surface made of wood. Such surfaces do not offer a level playing area. Therefore, it is important to choose tables that have surfaces made of slabs of slate. This material is highly durable and does not break easily. The fourth point to inspect is the cabinetry of the billiard tables. Various types of materials are used to make cabinetry. If you need tables that can be passed down through generations, then buying the ones that have cabinetry made using hardwood is highly recommended.
